Senator Mayes Middleton, David Mayes Middleton II, is a Texas-born businessman and conservative lawmaker representing Senate District 11—covering Brazoria, Galveston, and parts of Harris Counties. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (B.A., J.D.), he leads Middleton Oil Company, ranching, cattle, and farming enterprises along the Gulf Coast.
Middleton began his political career in the Texas House (2019–2022), where he chaired the Texas House Freedom Caucus. In 2023, he transitioned to the State Senate and currently serves on several key committees, including Business & Commerce, Education K–16, Jurisprudence, State Affairs, Local Government (Vice Chair), and the Higher Education subcommittee (Vice Chair). Known for his strong conservative stance, he has championed issues such as election integrity, religious and parental rights, school chaplains, and college athletes competing by birth gender. He enters the 2026 Texas Attorney General race as a self-funded candidate with a $10 million campaign launch, endorsed by former President Trump.
