Biography

John Edward Gerard Matze Jr. was born in Poway, California and studied computer science and business at the University of Denver, and he worked as a web developer at Alere Inc. and General Atomics. In August 2018, he founded the uncensored social network Parler, which amassed a large far-right following; Matze said that, while he did not identify with either the Democratic or Republican parties and did not necessarily agree with Donald Trump's fanbase, he was a libertarian who supported free speech and opposed censorship from the larger social media platforms.
